Project Overview
Douvris has been a martial arts organization in Ottawa since 1984. Founded by the brothers Master Sensei John Douvris and Master Sensei Peter Douvris, they offer karate classes with a philosophy of inwardly humble and outwardly gentle individuals and encourage members to pursue goals like fitness, kinship, and leadership development. Douvris promotes self-confidence, resilience, and positive well-being for its goal of helping members become the best version of themselves.
I have been providing freelance support to the Douvris family as a contractor on an ongoing basis since 2018.
The Work
As a freelance designer for this martial arts studio, I am responsible for creating branded web and print marketing.
My work ranges from social media posts that convey the message of the studio's mission, to designing banners and signage to promote their classes and programs. With every project, I aim to create designs that are visually appealing as well as informative, making sure to stay true to the studio's brand. I am also in charge of creating brochures, class passes, door hangers and posters for various events held at the studio. Overall, my freelance work contributes to strengthening their branding and helps to promote the martial arts programs within their facility.
